Every now and then I enjoyed reading spam a loud to friends. It was always very funny to hear it spoken since so few people actually look at the content of their spam and realize how strange the writing is. While doing one of these readings, I started to notice that there is a strange and beautiful poetry to some spam. I started to collect and share the best of them, which eventually spawned this blog.
I’m pretty sure this poetry is written by computers…which were of course were written by humans. These layers of translation seem to build the complexity of the narrative voice and also contextualizes the genre to the internet…which is just nodes of computers and humans alike. I edit this site only in-so-far as I collect these works by anonymous computers and humans and publish them here. I hardly ever change the content itself; I just try and present the original messages out of the context of your junk folder. Time will tell if it is art or not.
