About

Ex-Bones dot com is a non-humor site publishing the pictures and texts of many hilarious artists. Ex-Bones dot com grew out of the original Ex-Bones project which you can read more about on its about page. As interest grew in Ex-Bones, there began to be a need for space to publish collaborative works and pieces by other non-humor artist. This change began with the collaboration with Justynn Tyme on Tyme and Bones and has grown from there. If you are interested in participating and publishing with our community, please contact us.

What is Non-Humor?

Nedsferatu’s Definition

Humor is generally defined by an individual’s perception of reality and often has common shared characteristics among many individuals. Non-humor uses many or none of these traditional characteristics in ways which theoretically shouldn’t be funny. So why are they? Non-humor separates itself from absurdism because while absurdism uses the non-sequitor to surprise the audience by taking the joke out of reality, Non-humor will create a context in which the joke makes sense. It is only a non-joke in the sense that it is contextualized outside of reality, however it can be completely logical within the context it creates. The tension and irony thus created is how the humor is generated. Great art can only be created by breaking the established rules of art. Using this paradigm, non-humor will tickle your funny bone even though you don’t know why…until they rewrite the rule book on funny that is.
